As promised, some more photos of Christmas at the cottage - any suggestions for captions for Owen's stocking photo? I love the bulging eyes!
I think that maybe, just maybe, I am getting the hang of this motherhood thing. Just as my academic Mum Helen promised, now that we're nearing the three month mark, I am feeling far more human and the babies are becoming more than just little lumps that need to be fed, changed and cleaned. Now they're staring at me every waking moment and you can tell that they're just soaking it all up. I can almost feel their brains growing. The smiles and cooing also help enormously - knowing they're happy makes me feel like I must be doing something right.
And of course, they're doing really well on the sleeping at night front. Not quite the all nighter I dream of, but we're getting close! They tend to go to bed at 8pm or 9pm and then sleep until 2:30 or 3am. Mark and I feed them and back into bed they go until they wake up at around 6:30 or 7am. Its pretty good really.
I've also started trying to establish a bit of a routine this week - breakfast, play, a walk along the lake in the stroller, back for more play and a bit of a cry (from the boys not me. I'm trying to avoid this particular part of the routine, but it inevitably occurs at some point!), lunch, a few minutes of watching the mobile in the crib then a nap, mid-afternoon snack, play, more tears and then some more play, dinner, some chatter with daddy, bedtime and then up for the middle of the night snack and then we start all over again the next morning. Throw in the diaper changes, a few odd power naps here and there that last about 5 or 10 mins, some cuddles from mummy as she tries to stop the aforementioned crying and the occasional bath and that has been our week so far. I'm hoping that it shapes itself into a strong routine soon, although I think I'm going to try to be flexible and not panic if we don't stick to it religiously. Since we're bound to get crazy-cold weather here sooner or later (we're having an uncharacteristic warm spell right now - no snow in sight!) I'm sure my morning walk with the guys might not always happen, or it will have to be moved to the local mall. But since this could be dangerous for my minuscule bank account that might not be such a good idea!
Okay and its now diaper changing and mid-afternoon snack time, so I'd best be off. Enjoy the photos!

If you turn the boys' Christmas stockings over do they say "Won't" and "Paid"?
Much love and HNY.

I am rolling my eyes Dave, but laughing too.
