After the spa, I wandered around St Andrews for a couple of hours. Its been seven years since I lived in the town and I was amazed at how much had changed. Its always been a bit of a "yah" town, meaning full of posh English students and rich American tourists who've come to play golf, but I was surprised at just how much posher its become. There were a lot of very trendy shops, a lot of expensive looking bars and restaurants and just a general feeling of being a bit more snooty. I think Prince William's years there probably changed the town quite a bit.
But it was nice to see that some things, like the old stone walls, the wonderful architecture of the houses and the little old ladies with their Tesco bags have stayed the same. This is the back of the houses on Playfair Terrace. Elly and I lived in a flat together here in our final year together, and Gillian and Jonathan lived just upstairs from us.
After my little tour around it was time for the wedding rehearsal. It was a bit intimidating - the vicar had lots of rules for us, like walking exactly three metres behind him during the processional, and then two metres behind during the recessional. Elly and Caroline were also given some strict instructions about her train and taking four steps back at a certain time and...well, I think he was just trying to make sure we got the timing right and didn't rish up the aisle, but I think we were all a little nervous afterwards! Here are Elle and Tim after the rehearsal. They don't look nervous, so maybe it was just me. Don't you love Elle's coat, by the way? That's one thing about Elly...I always covet her clothes. Too bad she's a size nothing and nothing would fit if I stole it anyway.

And here I am after a trip to the pub to meet all the guests. I am about to eat a chip buttie. Do you know how long I've been looking forward to eating a chip buttie? Probably since the day Elly asked me to be a bridesmaid. I was thinking "yay! I get to go to St Andrews to stand next to one of my best friends as she gets married. AND I get to eat a chip buttie again!" Well let me just tell you...it didn't disappoint. Mmm, mmm, carby deliciousness.
