My little boys are definitely growing up into curious toddlers, willing to go off on their own to investigate any new situtation. Unless it involves very loud noises, in which case mummy can come along to investigate the situation too. Actually one of the two words I hear most these days is "come". The other is "hep".
"Come" is used in many ways. Its used when they want me to share in playtime - "Come, mummy. Come choo-choo" meaning, please come and play with me and the trains. Its used when they want to share in some of my experiences too - "I come, mummy? Peas? I come poo?" meaning, I see that you're heading into the washroom and heaven forbid you should have five minutes alone! By the way, its not that I'm always going in there for the reasons they think...its just that they don't seem to get "pee". Apparently the washroom is only for "poo". Sigh. Very embarrassing in public washrooms. "Mummy POO!!" is often said very loudly in the mall washrooms.
"Hep" is my new favorite word though. It means help. In the past it was used to ask for my assistance with something, but all of a sudden I'm being offered hep. Awesome! Today I got hep unloading the dishwasher, with little hands carefully gripping each cup, each plate, each bowl. The pride on their faces as they handed me each item gave me such happiness. Then later on we were outside and my big boys hepped me to bring in the green bins. I was so impressed. The wheeled the bins all the way from the curb into our garage. Next I'll have them folding laundry, raking leaves and cooking Sunday roasts!
