Its been pretty busy here for the past few weeks. You've seen and read about some things, like Thanksgiving, the boys' party and then their birthday. But I have more photos and stories for you to come, like my dear friend Senay's bridal shower and then her wedding to Marek the next day. I would have emailed earlier but as soon as all the chaos stopped, my body decided to stop too and I got a little cold. No energy to sit down and type for you guys. But its Saturday night, my husband ios making me spaghetti and salad and I'm plonked in front of the tv, ready to watch junk and post pictures for you!
So, starting it all off is my darling Senay (pronounced Shuh-naye). She has been a very good friend of mine since I first moved to Toronto from the UK. We met at the Running Room when we both joined a Learn To Run clinic. We ended up walking home together one night and realised that not only did we live opposite each other, but we had a lot in common. We befriended another runner, Debra Hogarth and along with my friend Elaine, we spent many an evening and weekend together running. Eventually we ran the Ottawa Marathon together. And let me tell you, after you run 42km together, after you pound the pavement, talking, laughing, crying, swearing and finally finishing the darned thing together, you're friends for life. Although I think we were probably friends for life after our first 5k race.
So anyhooooo....Senay met a really cool guy called Marek and after taking him home to Turkey this August, they got engaged and in September they emailed us to say "Hey! We're getting married in October!" Cue total panic from the gang trying to get a shower/hen party organised for her in time.
In the end, we were so lucky to get to spend the night before her wedding with Senay as we threw a lingerie party for her at Elaine's house. We invited about 12 of Senay's closest friends, as well as her mother in law and sister in law, and also her lovely mother, who had travelled from Turkey just for the wedding.
Because the party was the night before the wedding and we didn't want Senay to feel hungover or too tired for the actual wedding, we just had a simple party, with a buffet and some drinks, and of course presents! We all got Senay some fun lingerie to start her marriage to Marek! Every girl needs some sexy undies, I think! We also got someone to come and do some henna tattoos for us - very cool, except that its STILL on my wrist and I keep thinking I've got food on me or something.

Senay's beautiful henna tatoo - if you look at the top of the design, you can see an M and an S for Marek and Senay.
