Teething or Tummy Troubles?

I wish they could talk! I wish they could say, "Mummy, it appears that I am experiencing a mild case of teething pain. Would you be a dear and fetch me some ice?" or maybe they could say, "Mummy darling, don't look so concerned. It may be two in the morning, and I might be crying, but really, I'll be fine in a minute. I just have a little bit of a gassy tummy, but once I've expelled this little bit of gas, I'll pop off to sleep again. Please go back to bed and I'll see you in the morning."

Poor little Owee-Oh has been struggling with something for the past couple of nights and I just don't know what it is. He's been in a fine mood for most of the day, but the last bottle, bedtime and the wee hours of the night don't seem to agree with him. He's been crying on and off throughout the night, sometimes going back to sleep himself and sometimes needing mummy to cuddle him. On Monday night he was so upset that I ended up bringing him into our bed at 2am, something I haven't done since December. I can't feel any teeth in there, but who knows? Its about the right time for them to start pushing through. And apparently it can take forever. Of course, it could just be an upset stomach or any number of other things. Poor little man. I just hate it when they're upset and you don't know what will help. So far, major cuddles seem to be the only salve.

My mum and Dave were here on Monday and Tuesday, on their way back from BC, and mum was a superstar last night, saying "you go back to bed, I'll deal with Owen. I can sleep on the plane." But in actual fact, apart from being soaked through at midnight and a couple of mini-meltdowns in the night that he sorted out himself, he was much better than Monday. But I still greatly appreciated mum changing him at midnight so I could catch up on some sleep.

Dave took some fantastic pictures of the boys, so once he emails them to me, I'll post them here.
I'm off to get into my running gear before the monkeys wake up. Ciaofornow.
