What A Fun Weekend!

Monday morning and the boys are both napping in their bouncy chairs. We've had quite a good weekend with Mark's parents, so I'm going to try and capture it all here for you. Forgive me if I go on too long.

First of all, I got my haircut on Saturday - finally got it cut shorter again, which is a relief because the last haircut wasn't really doing it for me. I feel like a bit of a sneak though, because I didn't go back to my usual hairdresser - I went to a fairly no frills salon that was half the price of my usual place. And I think the haircut is just as good. Why do we always feel like we are cheating on our hairdressers when we go somewhere else? (Lisa C., don't tell Michael I went somewhere else!!)

Anyway, after my little grooming session, Mark and I went out. Without the kids. I think it was the longest period of time that I've spent without the babies and I handled it fairly well, even if I do say so myself. We went to a 3:30 showing of Casino Royale (so good - best Bond ever, if you ask me! Daniel Craig is very easy to look at if you ask me. Fascinating face and gorgeous eyes. I'm a sucker for blonds though) and then we went out to dinner. Nothing fancy, we weren't quite up for that, but it was still nice. I think we were home by 7:30pm, but still. We were OUT. On a DATE. Mark and I haven't spent alone time together since...well, its been months. And my boys were so well behaved for their gran and grandpa. We had put them down for a nap at 3 before leaving for the movie and Susan said they didn't wake up until 6pm! Clever boys! Every once in a while they sleep really well like that (and still sleep all night). I've decided that its their bodies storing up energy for growth spurts or weight gain. They suddenly seem a lot heavier this week.

On Sunday Mark had to go into work for a few hours (boooooooo!) so Bill did some stuff in Mark's workshop and Susan and I went out shopping with the boys. We bought them some new sleepers since they're getting taller and chubbier and we also got them the coolest new toy! Its more a toy for me I think, since it means I can pop them in and have my hands free for a while. Basically its a cross between a Jolly Jumper and an excersaucer - its a Fisher-Price Jumperoo. And the boys love it! Owen couldn't stop staring at it as I assembled it, which I thought was a promising sign. And once we put them in (one at a time, or course) they both loved it. I think Owen likes to chew on it and Will likes to stare at the lights that flash. I took video of them both in it for the first time, so I'll try to put it up here later today.

The other exciting thing that happened this weekend was that William managed to flip himself over from his tummy to his back. Twice! So cool! For all of you non-parents out there who are not in the know, this is an important developmental milestone for babies. Owen isn't quite there yet, but we think he won't be far behind. I tried to video him doing it today, but Will just ended up flopping around on his tummy and getting frustrated so I stopped. I don't think he liked the pressure of having to perform for the camera. Next time. ;)

We're going to the doctor today for their 4 month shots (gah! I hate it when we have to get shots!), so I'll keep you posted on their latest weights (we've moved up a size in diapers, so I think they must be nearly 14lbs) and I'm going to ask the doctor if Owen is indeed cutting a tooth as I suspect he might be. Very red cheeks, lots of drool, hands constantly in the mouth and a little white something or other on the lower right side of his gum, near the front. Might still be a while before it pops through, but I'm fairly sure its a tooth.

I better go for now though, since I have to feed the guys before going to see the doctor. More news later and as I said, hopefully some video footage of the new Jumperoo. Ta-Ta.

Good commentary on your busy weekend. It sounds like you had fun. I'm glad you made it out for a date night... did you manage to talk about more than just the boys?! Sam and I love to talk about Nathan and then we move on as to not spend the entire evening talking about our son... however, he is probably our favorite topic.(: I hate shots too, even though they are important, I just hate being the one to have to hear them cry and hold them while it is done. I'll be thinking of you today. I will also look forward to the video of the jumperoo. Nathan has a friend that has one and loves it too, he gets a little wild and crazy with the jumperoo, it's fun.(: Take care,
Jenna
