Wow, time flies when you're having fun with the cutest babies in the whole wide worald! I can't believe they're now two months old, and at the same time, it feels like its been years since they've been with us. Will and Owen are doing really really well - gaining weight like little troopers, staring with big bright blue eyes at everything and have even managed what I believe are non-gas related smiles at their very happy mummy. I'm still waiting for the other milestones, like cooing (although I think Will might have been talking to his mobile in the crib this morning), recognizing that yes, that thing flailing around IS my hand and I'm going to stare at it for hours, oh and sleeping through the night of course!
We're going to see the pediatrician tomorrow for their two month check up as well as their first immunizations shots (boohoo, am not looking forward to it! I hate it when they're upset) and I can't wait to hear what they're weighing in at now. They feel pretty solid in my arms, and their legs, arms and backs are definitely starting to feel like there is some extra padding there. Especially on Owen, who we have dubbed Fat David, since he looks like a chubby version of my brother. Will is still a slender wee thing, but he's cheeks are starting to fill out and he's as strong as an ox! Well, a very small ox at any rate. I also think they're starting to look more and more like each other. I'm not sure that they have distinct personalities just yet, but its all coming along nicely.
As for Mark and I, we're doing well. The lack of sleep at night is still rough though, and we often glare at each other through bleary eyes at 3am or 4am when the boys wake up for a feed, as if to say "who's brilliant idea was this?!". But to be honest, I think we're even adapting to the interrupted sleep schedule and managing it all a little better. I've also got a very lovely volunteer who has just started to come over for a few hours of baby time this past week. Her name is Christina and she's 23 and I think she'll probably end up coming in once or twice a week for a few hours. Its very handy to have someone else around, even if its just to hold one baby while I cuddle the other. Our friends Annie and Paul, as well as Amber (Jon is in exam mode so we haven't seen as much of him) have also been coming over on a regular basis to make us dinner or just hang out - nice to have adult conversation!
We're heading off to the cottage for Christmas next week so this will probably be my last post for this year. A very very merry Christmas to everyone from our little family. Hope you all have a lovely holiday season and that you get to spend it with those you love!
