Will and Owen slept 6 hours last night! Aren't they smart? Of course, my first reaction was "Are they still breathing?!" They were in bed with us because they were so fussy after the last feeding at 9pm so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. Actually, they don't really seem to like sleeping in their crib that much. They're often in vibrating chairs or in our arms or in our bed. Is that bad? Are we setting them up to be bad sleepers? Part of me worries about this (that would be the neurotic mother part of me) and part of me thinks that if they're sleeping, let them!
Right now they're asleep in their stroller again, having stayed there since Susan and I came back from a walk around the neighbourhood this afternoon. Now, its been 5 hours since they ate. Is that okay? They seem to either want to eat every 3 hours or every 5 hours. I'm just letting them sleep and when they wake up themselves I'll feed them. My only concern is that I thought I read or heard that babies are supposed to be fed 8 to 12 times a day. And these guys are maybe at 6 times. They fed at 8am and at 12pm today and nothing since then. They'll probably eat again at 8 or 9 and then once more in the night, maybe twice if they don't sleep though. Is that enough? Or should I be waking them up? They're gaining weight though and their lips don't seem to be cracked and dry, so I don't think they're dehydrated. Opinions from those in the know please. Is it only little newborns that need to eat that often? At nearly 6 weeks, are they okay to be eating like this? Am I doing it all wrong?! I can't find the answers I need in any of my books...what to do?
I have a couple of pics to post - one of them from this morning that Mark took just before he went off to work - its me and the boys all asleep in our bed. The other is me posing for Mum of the Year. You'll see when I post it. But you're going to have to wait for them since the camera is upstairs, I am downstairs and its too far to go. Yes, I'm lazy. Scratch that. Busy being a mum.
Does anyone have any questions about the boys, by the way? Happy to answer any. I love talking about them. Poor Amber gets the daily scoop on their poop whenever she calls! I think she's the most patient of people. Someday I will learn to talk about other things. Maybe.
