Well Fill Me With Stuffing...

...And call me turkey! (sorry, that's my brother's favorite saying) Happy Canadian Thanksgiving. Different from American Thanksgiving in that we celebrate ours early enough in the fall that you don't get sick of turkey right before Christmas.

Mark's parents Bill and Susan came down on Saturday afternoon with all the food we could possibly need or want for the weekend and have basically pampered us the whole time, which has been lovely. I haven't cooked a thing since Thursday (Amber and Jon came over Friday night and made us burgers - this pregnancy thing rocks!). Yesterday Mark and his dad did some much needed repairs to the outside of the house and I napped away the day. We BBQed the turkey since our oven is broken and thanks to Jon's recipe from Cooks Illustrated, it was amazingly good. And I think less time consuming than an oven cooked turkey. If anyone wants the recipe, just let me know.

Only 5 more days until my mum arrives - can the Bobs hold out until then? I was sure they would make their grand entrance just as the turkey came out of the BBQ, but they decided to let me eat in peace. This waiting game is quite nerve-wracking - I'm constantly trying to decide if a twinge means something or if I feel any different from yesterday. Knowing that I'm going to be a mum in just over a week is still so strange. Exciting, but strange.

Okay - c'est tout pour le moment. I'm off to check out leftovers.

Hi Pasc!

I can't believe that you are going to be a mom in less than two weeks!! Where has the time gone?

I've spent the last half-hour reading your blog and I am *finally* up to date. It has been a lot of fun getting caught up. I just have to say that the Bobs are pretty lucky to have such a fun, creative and thoughtful mom. I bet they can't wait to finally meet the landlady.

It sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving weekend. I'm really sorry that Karen and I couldn't be there. We are both looking forward to seeing you , Mark, Jack and the Bobs soon.

XOXO

Hi Pascale,
You probably don't remember me at all, but I was at St Andrews with you (I'm a good friend of Anita Gallagher, and I was also friends with Helen..). Anyway, Anita "alerted" me to your blog (actually, she recommended it as quality reading material!) and I just wanted to let you know how great I think it is. I'm hooked! I love your style & the way you combine wit and enthusiasm and irony... I hope there'll be a sequel!! (ie a post-birth diary). Good luck for the coming days... hang in there: you're actually inspiring me to have kids!

Hi Pasc

I too can't wait for your post-birth blog... although how you'll find the time in the first few weeks I'm not sure!!! It is lovely to be able to log on from across the pond and see how you're doing each week! Not long now until you meet the Bobs... what a magic moment that will be!

Have fun!!!

PS Will this make me an academic granny?!
