So what else have we been up to this week? Here's a little run down of the highlights of the past few days:
- On Sunday, a man at No Frills who was behind me at the checkout called out to me in the parking lot "I just have to say, from behind you don't look pregnant at all - You turned sideways and I was like woah!" I beamed and told him it was the nicest thing I'd heard all day.
- I have made a rule for myself this week that I will make the effort to wear a little make up everyday and not put my hair back in a ponytail. So far so good and I feel better about myself.
- I spoke with a volunteer at the Toronto Parents of Multiples Association (TPOMPA) on Monday night about membership and felt both relieved and scared sh*tless - she was very honest with me about how hard its going to be in the first couple of years, and how I will need help from more than just Mark and that some days all she wanted to do was lie in a dark room with no one touching her, just zoning out. I think that I needed to hear that from someone. No matter how many people tell me its all going to be fine, I need to be realistic and accept that this is going to be bloody hard as well as amazing and wonderful. Anyway, I signed up as a member and that means I will be able to go to monthly meetings in my area with other parents of twins, be able to go to their huge sale of used goods in October (if I can walk around that is) and other good things too.
- Went shopping with Dee-Ann, my lovely coworker last night on the way home. Being the realistic and insightful woman that she is, Dee realised I was feeling a bit frumpy in my maternity clothes/non-maternity t-shirts stretched beyone recognition over my belly and so we went off and bought me a few outfits, including a pretty skirt and top and a dress so I can feel like a girlie and not a lump of potatoes. Thank you Dee!!
- Asked my boss if I could have 5 days off in August (unpaid, of course) in order to go to Ottawa/The Cottage with Mark and Jack. He's getting back to me today on whether its a yes or a no. Took me about 3 weeks to pluck up the courage to ask him - I'm such a wimp. Everyone keep your fingers crossed!
- Watched many many episodes of Boston Legal Season One on DVD. If you haven't seen this show, I highly recommend it. Mum, you in particular would like this. Its too funny. Who ever thought William Shatner would be a good actor?! But he is! He is! "Denny Crane. Cuckoo for Coco Puffs". And Candice Bergen is in it too. But my favorite character by far is Alan Shore, played by James Spader. Mainly for his incredible closing arguments during his trials. Whoever is writing this stuff is unbelievable. Anyway, its defintely worth checking out. Its the kind of show that makes Mark laugh - and I mean really laugh. The neighbours can hear him.
Ummmmm....I'm sure that there are other things that happened this week, but my mind is blank. Bob and Bob are good by the way, I know I haven't mentioned them yet. They're just hanging out, shooting the breeze, taking it easy, growing lungs, you know, that kind of thing. Spark is well too - I should mention that he actually managed to leave work at THREE THIRTY on Friday afternoon and we had all evening with each other, which was very nice. This week is a little busier, but he's still coming home before I'm in bed or at least, before I'm asleep. Usually back in time to squeeze in one episode of Boston Legal. I think he might love Denny Crane more than he loves me....
