Leroy Johnson?

Where do I begin? So many exciting things to report!

Driving to see Mark's parents in Ottawa was great - I don't know about Mark, but I was becoming more and more like a giddy schoolgirl with every passing kilometer. We talked a lot about what we thought Bill and Susan's reactions would be, and when KJ and Dwayne would open their package. We also tossed around possible boy's names, but most of them were just tossed out altogether. The more names we reject, the more certain I am that this is going to be a boy and we'll be forced to call him Susy for lack of a male name.

When we finally got to Ottawa, I pretty much bounded out of the car and into the house. Unfortunately, Bill was busy puttering outside and Susan was equally busy puttering inside. How to get them both in one place without looking totally crazy? I finally said that the little package we had brought was going to melt (more like my nerves) and dragged Bill inside to watch Susan open the package (have I described what it was yet? Since it was Easter weekend, I bought a little felt bag that looked like a square bunny with floppy ears on top. I filled it with chocolate eggs and that weird fake grass you only get at Easter and placed a tiny pair of Baby Gap socks in the bottom.). Susan started to pick her way through the bag, but then realised it would be easier to dump it on the counter. So everything topples out. My eyes are flashing back and forth between Bill and Susan and the countertop, waiting to see what kind of reaction we're going to get. Susan begins sorting through the grass and the chocolates and then picks up the socks, matches them together and kind of stretches them out a bit with a puzzled look on her face. I'm sure they were both thinking "What is wrong with this girl? What's so urgent about some easter eggs and some..." Cue the glimmer of realisation, promptly followed by Susan saying in a disbelieving Scottish accent "Nooooo!?!!" And me saying "Yeeesss!" Much hugging and laughter followed. And then Bill said, "Susan, I think maybe you'd better drive up to the cottage!" Apparently it was all just a bit too much for the grandfather-to-be.

Karen and Dwayne called later that night to thank us for the Easter present - KJ is very much her father's daughter and sounded just as gobsmacked and emotional. It was a lovely phone call. I hope my own private nurse can come to Toronto in November, either to help me through the delivery, or help her brother through it. If ever someone was meant to be a nurse, its our KJ.

So the weekend was lots of fun and very relaxing too. We bandied more boy's names about, including a suggestion from Bill at 7:30 on Saturday morning, "I was thinking...how about Leroy? Leroy Johnson?" He's joking of course. We think. Susan seemed to have gotten over her shock by about 10am on Sunday. I think she spent most of the weekend digesting the news. She said she was awake at 4:30 on Saturday thinking all things baby. We might have just ruined their sleep pattern for the next few months.

Whew. There is so much more to tell, including my doctor's visit today, but I think I might have to save it for tomorrow night. Its already 9:35pm and I should have been in bed at least 36 minutes ago. Stay tuned for more maternity material...

Night everyone.
P & B (& Jack who is already fast asleep beside me)
